Is there a fee to join Handango's Software Partner Program?
No. There is no cost to becoming a Handango Software Partner! Once your application
to register as a Software Partner is approved and you submit software for sale,
we retain 40% of the revenues (excluding taxes) for products sold through the
main Handango Web site at www.handango.com. For products sold through our Value-Added
channels, we retain 40% of the revenues (excluding taxes), and our commission
can increase only if we perform. If we sell nothing, we earn nothing. You have
nothing to lose except the increased revenue you could earn by having your products
available through Handango's many distribution channels!

What are Value-Added Channels?
Many of Handango's Value-Added Channels have been developed with key partners
in the handheld industry, such as Palm?, Microsoft, Nokia, Sony?,
Handspring?, Casio, and Cingular Wireless. Handango powers the software
stores for these sites, as well as many others. By joining our Software Partner
program, your applications receive added exposure on these targeted sites. You
also have the potential to receive extended exposure through our direct sales
team and other enterprise software resellers we have partnered with to sell
software, such as Compucom and Software Spectrum.

What are Wireless Value-Added Channels?
Wireless Value-Added Channels are considered to be separate from the other Value-Added
Channels. These terms apply to mobile operators, phone manufacturers, and other channels that
enable customers to purchase your applications wirelessly, but do not apply to www.handango.com
or to the PC versions of the Value-Added Channels, including (but not limited to) Palm,
Microsoft, Sony, Handspring, Hewlett-Packard, Casio, Dell, Yahoo and AOL. Your royalty is 70% in
these channels; it can't fluctuate regardless of sales volume. And sales in the Wireless Value-
Added Channels don?t count towards the tiers outlined in the SDA for the other Value-Added
Channels.

How do I upload my software applications to Handango?
Once you register to become a Handango Software Partner, you will receive your
own Handango account. In this account, select "Add a Product" to begin
uploading your software applications. The process is simple and takes only a
few minutes.

Does Handango have a policy regarding external URL's?
Yes, Handango's External URL Policy is as follows:
All URL's within Handango properties should remain within the Handango.com
domain, except in these instances:
A review from an enthusiast or news site
is cited The customer service system for this product is more advanced than
a destination email address and use of the developer's website is required
The game has a shared component between customers, such as an online leader
board, multiplayer gaming portal, or 3rd party data source
All other URL's not mentioned above are subject to removal at Handango's discretion.

Registration Models
What do the product types mean?
There are three product types: Freeware, Commercial, and Shareware Registration.
Freeware is fully functional software provided to the customer free of
charge. Commercial software is fully functional software that does not
require a key to unlock. Customers who purchase commercial software will be
immediately taken to a screen where they can download the full version. If a
Commercial software product has a trial version, two files must be selected
in Section 3 of the Product Administration. Shareware Registration is
software that requires a code to function fully after the trial period has expired.

What is Dynamic Registration?
Handango provides a dynamic registration process that instantly generates a
registration code for each customer, based on a unique algorithm that you provide
and the customer's specific device ID. For more details, please see your Handango
account.

I use Pool or Dynamic Registration. How do I know what codes have been given
out?
These are located in the CSV reports, in Column Q. They will also appear in
Section 3 of the Product's Administration Screen under the section, "Issued
Codes."

Updates and Promotional Information
How do I update my product?
To update your product, log into your Handango account. Select "View/Modify
Your Products," and choose the appropriate product from the list. Click
on "Modify" and begin editing. You can upload a new file in Section
Four of the individual product's administration page.

What are discount codes and how can I use them?
Discount codes can be assigned to individual products or to all of your products.
To receive discount codes that you can distribute to your customers, please
send your Business Development representative the following information at least
one week before you will need them.

How can I notify all of my customers that I have a new or updated version
of my application?
You have two options:
- Handango can create discount codes for you to send out to your customers,
which will give them the opportunity to obtain the new or upgraded application
for a significant discount or for free.
- You can create a hidden product on Handango. You can then email this product
to the customers to whom you would like to offer a free upgrade. For either
of these options, please contact your Business Development representative
at least one week before they are needed.

Sales/Accounting Details
How do I get paid?
Royalty payments are sent on the 15th of each month for the previous month's sales. For example,
sale made any time during May would be paid on June 15th. A Royalty Report for the month is
also issued on the 15th of the following month. The Royalty Report ties directly to the payment
and shows how each sale was calculated.
To help our International Software Partners manage the costs of depositing U.S. checks, we hold
payment to Software Partners based outside of the United States until the account balance
reaches $250 USD. The minimum balance for US checks is $250.

Do you offer any payment options other than by check?
Yes. Domestic payments can be sent via ACH (Direct Deposit), PayPal, or Check. International
payments can be sent via Check or PayPal. Additional international payment options will be
available in the near future. Payment options can be setup under the Company Information
section in the ?Payment Information? screen.

Can Handango only send me a check once my account reaches a certain amount?
Handango only uses the $250 threshold for foreign developers. If you would like us to hold your
checks, you can place a hold on your account. By placing a hold on your account, your balance
accrues until you remove the hold. Once your hold is removed, your payment will be issued with
our next payment batch on the 15th of the month.
Payment holds can be placed under the Company Information section in the ?Payment Information?
screen. Please note that it may take up to 2 weeks for a change of hold status to take affect

How do I check my revenue online?
You can check your revenue by logging into your account. Under the Accounting section there are two reports that show your sales in detail:
1. Sales Report. Your Sales Report shows detailed customer information about every sale that happened during that time period. The CSV?s are automatically sent daily, weekly, or monthly based on the option you?ve selected. These reports are also available online for the past 12+ months.
2. Royalty Report. The Royalty Report is issued on the 15th of each month for the previous month?s sales. The Royalty Report is what your payments are based of off, and includes all sales that were paid during the previous month. The Royalty Report shows in detail how your payment due was calculated. It is sent via email CSV on the 15th of each month and is available online for the past 12+ months.

How often do I get sales/customer information?
Customer information will be sent in your Sales Reports (CSVs), which will be sent to you as
frequently as you choose. You can choose this frequency in the "Edit Company/Author Information"
section of your account.

How do I change my payment information, email address, etc.?
You can change this information in your Handango account. Make sure to update this
information in both of the following sections: GoPass Account (at the bottom of the page)
and "Edit Company/Author Information." Your payments are based off the information in the ?Edit
Company/Author Information."

Do you send tax information?
Yes, we send all tax documents that are required by the IRS. For foreign developers, we mail
1042-S Forms with gross income and withholding rates. For domestic developers, we send 1099
Forms at the end of the year.
Because we do send tax information to the developers and the IRS, it is extremely important for
you to have current information in the "Edit Your Author Information" section of your account,
especially with respect to your social security number, Federal Tax ID, status of your company,
correct address, and the name of the company or individual to whom your checks are made
payable.
Corporations have Federal Tax IDs. We are not required to mail corporations 1099s. However, we
do mail 1099s to sole proprietorships and partnerships that are domestic. Other forms of
business may also have Federal Tax IDs as well. But, if not, then we need the social security
number or the EIN (employee identification number).

How can I find out when a purchase happens right away?
You can choose to receive instant email notifications when a purchase is made. You can select
this option in Section One of each individual product's administration page.

What is a Direct Sale?
"Direct Sales" are sales made through our inside and outside sales teams that target enterprise
customers. These sales will have a reference number that is only 4 digits, and may be designated
by the letters ?DS?. Since these are enterprise customers, many choose to be invoiced for the
sale. Royalties for any sale are sent once Handango receives payment.

"Credits" are refunds issued by our Customer Service Department. For more information about our

What is a CSV and what do all the fields mean?
A CSV (comma separated value) Sales Report is a sales report that Handango emails to you at the
frequency that you determine in the "Edit Your Author Information" section of your account. A
detailed description of each field can be found in the Accounting section under Report
Layouts.

What if my CSV is not sent?
You can view this information online. Log into your account and select "View Your Sales Report"
to view online or receive a csv file via email that displays your total sales and customer
information for any time period that you select. Your Sales Report is available online for the
past 12+ months. We recommend you save historical reports for your future reference.

What is VAT?
VAT stands for Value Added Tax. A new Value Added Tax (VAT) law, effective July 1, 2003, will
impact all online sales in the European Union (EU). Different VAT rates need to be collected for
each EU country. The great news is Handango will handle this new process. We will file in the
U.K. and fall under the special provision section. We will collect the appropriate tax based on
the country of origin of the buyer (beginning July 1). This will be automated and requires
nothing on your part. Handango will provide all of the reporting and payments to the EU.

What is the policy on tax withholding for international partners?
The IRS (Internal Revenue Service -- the taxing entity in the US) requires that we withhold 30%
from all payments to International companies whose country of residence does not have a tax
treaty with the US This is required by law. If your country has a tax treaty with the US
government, the withholding rate will be from 0-30% depending on your country's tax treaty. You
may be able to deduct the full amount of the withholding tax from your local income taxes.
Because this varies from country to country, we recommend that you consult with your tax advisor.
Handango will begin withholding taxes in the month of July for June's sales. We will also be
collecting for all payments made during 2002 and 2003 later this year. Publication 515 will
provide you with more information about the withholding of tax on nonresident aliens and foreign
corporations. If you have any questions, please contact us here.
Other companies are not withholding, why is Handango?
Handango cannot speak for other companies as to why they are not withholding taxes. Handango has
consulted with our lawyers and concluded that to abide by US tax laws, we need to withhold and
submit the taxes to the IRS. Please refer to the Publication 515 link for more information.
I do not live in the US, why do I have to pay taxes to the IRS?
The programs are downloaded from a US server on US soil, therefore, it is subject to US taxes.
Some countries have credits for foreign taxes paid; please consult with your local government to
determine if you're eligible.
Will I get a document stating the amount deducted?
1042-S will be sent out in March of each year indicating all payments made as well as deductions.
Do I have to file with the IRS?
No. Handango is withholding the tax and is submitting it on your behalf to the IRS. To file with
the IRS yourself and not have Handango withhold the money for you, please contact us here. Please
note that you will still be liable to pay taxes to the IRS for revenue earned in the US.
If you request to file on your own, we will send you a form to fill out and send back to Handango
once your registration with the IRS is complete. You will first need to register with the IRS,
who will provide you with a valid tax number which must be provided to Handango before we cease
to withhold. Please note that this process will take approximately two months.

Trouble Shooting
I get an error message when trying to upload my files?
Please ensure that you are using Internet Explorer as your web browser when uploading
applications. Other browsers will return an error message.

My product/s are not appearing on Handango.com?
Hnadango's system refreshes every 12 hours. If your products are still not showing after the
first 24 hour period, please make sure that you have done the following:
1) Ensure that you have selected categories for your product.
2) Ensure that you have activated your products at the top of the product page.
3) Ensure that you have selected the appropriate platform and compatible devices.
4) Ensure that you are using the maximum number of key terms available.
5) Ensure that you have not uploaded any adult or copy-righted content.
6) Ensure that you have not uploaded freeware for the Java platform. Do to high costs we are
unable to support Java freeware.

How do I know what to name my jad/jar files?
When a .jad file is being uploaded, the MIDlet-Jar-URL field should contain the jar file name
only, not the actual jar file location. For example, superapp.jad file contains the following
line: MIDlet-Jar-URL: superapp.jar
Our upload / download servlet will fill in the remaining information for this line. Also,
our system truncates file names to 10 letters so to ensure your jad file calls the correctly
named jar file, please ensure your file names are 10 letters or less upon upload to
Handango.

I uploaded images, but they are not appearing?
For images to appear on Handango next to your product you must ensure that you have uploaded
images to the thumbnail section of each product page.

How do I view the software distribution agreement?
As you complete the sign-up process for an Handango account, you will be presented
with the software distribution agreement. Once you have registered, the software
distribution agreement can be viewed anytime through the "Software Distribution
Agreement" link in your Handango account.
